Nativities By Candlelight, Annual Display in Kirkwood, MO
The Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help invite you to celebrate the 800th anniversary of Greccio! Experience the Incarnation of the Word made flesh through the nativity, a Christmas tradition inspired in the year 1223 when St Francis of Assisi gathered townspeople for Mass in a cave outside the Italian town of Greccio. He had placed an ox, a donkey, and an empty manger in the cave to visually share the Gospel nativity, and his passion started a tradition that has remained in the hearts and homes of Christians throughout the world for 800 years!
Bring your family and friends to share in viewing 300-plus unique nativity sets from various cultures, artisans, and collectors on display at our Tau Center in Kirkwood. This year, the display will also feature a children’s “hands-on” room, a large Fontanini village, and nativity sets from our Sisters and various folks from the St Louis area.
Be sure to stop by to experience this joy of the Christmas season between 11am and 4pm on Saturday Dec 9 and Sunday Dec 10. Tau Center is located in Kirkwood, Missouri, at 335 S Kirkwood Rd (behind PNC Bank and Andy’s Frozen Custard on Kirkwood Rd, and between KinderCare and the American Legion Hall on South Clay).
Registration is not necessary, but those who do register will receive an email reminder. Admission is free. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please enter through the main door atop the stairs on the east side under the covered porch. We do have handicapped parking and an accessible entrance at the Southwest corner of the building, but that door stays locked.
