Light & Love: The Transitus of St Clare in Memory of Our Sisters
Celebrate the Feast of St Clare with us as we honor our deceased Sisters Sat, August 9
Register today to join us as we celebrate Light & Love: The Transitus of St Clare in Memory of our Sisters. Our special prayer service will take place:
Saturday, August 9, 2025
from 2:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon
on the campus of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services
Family and friends of our late Sisters are encouraged to join us for this afternoon of remembrance, prayer and fellowship. The Feast of St Clare is celebrated annually on August 11. We will gather the Saturday before, August 9, to join in the Franciscan tradition of Transitus. Many have celebrated the Transitus of St Francis, but the celebration of St Clare is fairly new. Clare’s faith is an inspiration for all, and as a truly Franciscan woman, her example is extremely meaningful to our dear Sisters.
We will gather in the Lally Room in the lower level of Mother of Perpetual Help Residence on Carberry Campus at Cardinal Ritter Senior Services. This room has a dedicated entrance from the side parking lot and is very near Resurrection Cemetery where are Sisters are laid to rest. Our prayer service will be followed by a reception with cookies, lemonade and coffee. Maps to find the marker of your special Sister will be provided for those wishing to visit the cemetery after the service. We hope the timing allows you to arrange a family dinner or attend Mass together afterward.
We do ask that attendees register at www.fsolph.org/events/. This allows us to plan seating and refreshments, and to send an email reminder one day and one hour before the event.
Upon registration, you will receive an email response that contains the link to the map of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services. The Lally Room (marked 4) is on the lower level of Mother of Perpetual Help (MOPH) assisted living residence (marked 5a). You may park in the lower lot just around the corner from the MOPH covered entrance. Watch for a sign with our logo at the entry to the lot. Enter the Lally Room directly, through a set of white double doors. Please save and flag/star the email response, so you can find it the evening of August 9. The prayer service will begin promptly at 2:15pm, but doors will open at 2:00 so that everyone can find a seat. We will try to send email reminders containing the map to registrants one day and one hour before the event. We have heard, however, that sometimes these do not go through.
This event is free and sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Memorials are humbly appreciated. There will be a free-will offering basket at the event. Those wanting to help us sponsor the service may donate through the link at the top of our homepage or contact us directly.
Please follow us on Facebook at FranciscanSistersOLPH or on YouTube at FSOLPH1. Don’t forget to sign up to receive our Franciscan Spirit newsletter before you leave the website today. We publish a print edition once or twice a year. We supplement with online editions more often that contain film and speaker series updates, prayer services, and other event opportunities. Upon request, we can email the online Franciscan Spirit newsletter to your inbox throughout the year. Call (314) 965-3700, and leave contact information via voicemail at x111. You can also email your request and contact information to info@fsolph.org
