Light & Love: The Transitus of St Clare in Memory of Our Sisters
Celebrate the Feast of St Clare with us as we honor our deceased Sisters August 10
Register today to join us as we celebrate Light & Love: The Transitus of St Clare in Memory of our Sisters. Our annual event to celebrate the lives of our dear, deceased Sisters has been re-imagined for 2024. Our new prayer service will take place in the Lally Room at Cardinal Ritter Senior Services from 3:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, August 10, the eve of the Feast of St Clare of Assisi.
Ever since the need to gather outdoors due to Covid 19 arose, we have met for a service at Resurrection Cemetery the weekend of our Foundation Day, which is May 29. We invited family members and friends to join us, and we placed roses on graves on behalf of those unable to attend. The potential for inclement weather, the risk of walking the uneven terrain, and the desire to celebrate with our Senior Sisters, has challenged us to rethink this celebration. We are excited to announce our new, indoor event!
Family and friends of our late Sisters are encouraged to join us for The Transitus of St Clare on Saturday, August 10, from 3-4pm in the Lally Room at Cardinal Ritter Senior Services (near the Cemetery). We will celebrate the Feast of St Clare with a new-to-us prayer ritual and a reception of cookies and punch. Maps to find the marker of your special Sister will be provided for those wishing to visit the cemetery after the service. We hope the timing allows you to arrange a family dinner or attend Mass together following the service.
We do ask that attendees register at www.fsolph.org/events/. This also allows us to plan seating and refreshments, and to send an email reminder one day and one hour before the event.
Upon registration, you will receive an email response that contains the link to the map of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services. The Lally Room (marked 4) is on the lower level of Mother of Perpetual Help (MOPH) assisted living residence (marked 5a). You may park in the lower lot just around the corner from the MOPH covered entrance. Watch for a sign with our logo at the entry to the lot. Enter the Lally Room directly, through a set of white double doors. Please save and flag/star the email response, so you can find it the evening of August 10. The prayer service begins at 3pm, but we ask everyone to plan to arrive by 2:45 in case there are difficulties finding the room. We will try to send email reminders containing the map to registrants one day and one hour before the event. We have heard, however, that sometimes these do not go through.
This event is free and sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Any donations are humbly appreciated. There will be a free-will offering basket at the event. Those wanting to help us sponsor the service may donate through the link at the top of our homepage or contact us directly.
