May 14 FFE Eco-Speaker Sarah Peper IN-PERSON AT TAU CENTER: “Resilience—Give Nature a Chance”

Sarah Peper, to speak on “Resilience—Give Nature a Chance” at Tau Center May 14th at 6:30 pm

Register today to join the Franciscan Sisters and Sarah Peper, a large river fisheries biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation, on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 6:30 in the evening. This May Franciscans For Earth Eco-Series Event will take place in the Assisi Room at Tau Center in Kirkwood, MO. Gather with St Louis community members as the Sisters welcome Sarah and her live presentation of “Resilience—Give Nature a Chance.”

The Missouri and Mississippi Rivers were altered dramatically in the 1900s. Lock and dam construction and channelization projects have made river navigation possible but have also affected the fish and other aquatic organisms that live in the river. Using Lake Sturgeon as a representative, we will explore how changes in the river systems have impacted aquatic fauna and how many of our species are amazingly resilient if given a chance to recover.  Discussion will follow.

Sarah Peper, a large river fisheries biologist for the Missouri Department of Conservation, grew up in Augusta, MO and has been a life-long member of Immaculate Conception Parish. She is the daughter of Glenn and MaryAnn Kluesner and niece of Sr Charlotte Struckhoff.  Sarah is a graduate of St. Francis Borgia High School and received her Bachelors in Biology from St. Louis University.  After college, she began her career working for the fisheries division of MDC and fell in love with river work. She and her husband Tony enjoy gardening, camping, hiking, and reading with their two children Isaiah and Corrine.
