The community of women religious now known as the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was founded on May 29, 1901, in St Louis, Missouri. In celebration of our Foundation Day, we will gather for a prayer service at our portion of Resurrection Cemetery where current Sisters are laid to rest, and where the remains of our Sisters buried at the Motherhouse were moved when that cemetery closed. While there, we will place fresh roses at the grave markers of our dear deceased Sisters. If you would like us to place roses on your behalf, all we ask is a donation to offset the cost and help continue Sisters' ministries. The suggested donation is $20 per rose.
We understand that our Sisters are also your daughters, sisters, cousins, aunts, coworkers, caregivers, teachers and friends. Throughout their lives, they share their time, talents, and their compassion and joy, with us and with the world. When a Sister passes on to her eternal life with God, we join you in your grief. Each Sister's life and legacy continues to be celebrated, and we include her in special Community prayer every year on the anniversary of her death.
Those who are nearby often visit their Special Sisters at the Community's final resting place.. This is difficult for friends and family members not in the the St Louis area. With this in mind, we are offering a way to honor your special Sister on the Anniversary of our Founding. Several Sisters will gather in prayer the weekend of May 29. We would love to place a rose at your Special Sister's grave marker on your behalf.
